Browser Configuration Utility

Discussion:

After updating Web-Link II software to version 2.5.7239, accessing the server computer from a hand held device (smart phone, Windows CE device, etc) returns less than desired results.  These poor results can include unusual display pages (compared to previous versions), commands not executing properly, missing icons, and other related issues.

Cause:

Web-Link version 2.5.7239 had to modify the application that used to identify the browser type (browscap.ini), in order to allow Web-Link to be compatible in a Vista installation.  This causes some hand held devices to not be able to reconcile the browser type when accessing Web-Link.

Resolution:

There is a Browser Configuration Utility embedded within the Web-Link installation that can be used to resolve these issues.  To use this utility:

  1. Open the browser on your hand held device.
  2. Type http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/web-link/browserconfig.asp/ into the URL Address (where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is a valid IP Address or Host/Domain name for the Web-Link server computer.
  3. You should get a page similar to:
